I would like to tell you about the love of my life, my little dog who’s name is sissy, I got sissy when she was 6 weeks old. she is almost 8 now. The only pet I have ever owned for the main reason I had a full time job and waited until retirement to get a pet.

Having sissy is the best thing I ever did in my life time, for the first six years of her life she was a happy pet, when she turned six I noticed one night she kept me up all night running to urinate, I was thinking maybe she had a bladder infection so I took her the following day to the vet, bad news, diabetes.

Then the hard time come when they told me I would have to give her injections, no way I thought I could never stick her with a needle, I use to pay my sister to give her the injections, then one day I thought to myself, she is my pet and why can’t I take care of what she needs.

It took me a long time to be comfortable to give her the injection but I have been doing it now and feel very comfortable about it. Sissy gets 2 injections of vetsulin. She is doing well enough now the last time I had her to the vet they told me I didn’t have to bring her back for months. That was magic words I waited to hear. I am on a fixed income and the vet charges was tearing me down, in 1-1/2 year I have spent over $4,000 but I am not complaining.

Now my big worry is her going blind from the diabetes. I am praying that doesn’t happen and if it does, I can come up with enough money to have her surgery, pray for sissy please.
